Intralox, L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has multiple positions available for either Electrical or Controls Engineers at our Baltimore, MD office. 

 

Intralox Equipment specializes in turnkey solutions for the logistics and Material Handling Industry.  Intralox works closely with our customers, determining their needs while discovering where Intralox can bring significant value for them.  Such activities include design, engineering, manufacturing, installing, commissioning, training, and supporting conveyance and sortation solutions.   

 

Electrical and Controls Engineers must have familiarity with Industry standards with a variety of the field concepts, best practices, and procedures. Candidates will be expected to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of complicated tasks, and have a wide degree of creativity.

Responsibilities:  

  • Develop electrical documentation packages  
  • Design in CAD electrical control panel layouts, bills of materials, and schematics.  
  • Engineer Power and Control Circuits.   
  • Architect Automation and Control Systems utilizing Commercial off the shelf components.  
  • Estimate electrical costs and create budgets per project with proposal scope.  
  • Program PLCs for control systems that include field devices such as photo eyes, shaft encoders, barcode scanners, pneumatics, scales, motors, VFDs, etc.  
  • Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. 
  • Commissions Control Systems at customer facilities.   
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.   
  • Assists with project commissioning and troubleshooting of field installations.  
  • Assists with creation and teaching of associated training.  
  • Assists with technical documentation deliverables 
  • May be assigned small projects to complete independently.  

 

 

Requirements: 

  • Accredited B.S. degree in Engineering or Computer Science.   
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.  
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD.   
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with a willingness to both design and perform field work.     
  • Ability to understand and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.  
  • Previous knowledge of commonly used controls engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.   
  • Ability to understand manufacturer data sheets and apply them in practice.  
  • Ability to configure PLC’s, HMI’s, computers, networks, cameras, and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorters, conveyors, and other related equipment.  
  • Ability to problem solve and be creative.   
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.   
  • Ability to build effective relationships with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.   
  • A self-managed individual who is a team player.   
  • Ability to travel (20%-65%), work weekends, holidays and overtime when required.   
  • Must have ability to lift 70 pounds and climb ladders.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with the following Developer Software: 
  • Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation Studio 5000.  
  • SIEMENS TIA Portal  
  • Beckhoff TWINCAT  
  • Matlab and Matlab Simulink   
  • Experience with any of the following VFDs: 
  • AB PowerFlex 525, 575, and 755  
  • Siemens G120 
  • SEW Movitmots  
  • Experience with any of the following HMI/GUI platforms: 
  • Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation FT View SE/Machine Edition  
  • Siemens, WinCC  
  • Schneider Electric Indusoft and Wonderware  
  • GE Cimplicity 
  • Inductive Automation Ignition 
  • Worked with the following Fieldbuses and communication protocols: 
  • Devicenet and Ethernet/IP  
  • Profibus and Profinet  
  • CANOpen and EtherCAT  
  • Ethernet TCP/IP  
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and AutoDesk Inventor.  
  • Familiar with Solidworks PDM or PTC Windchill PLM environments.  
  • Familiar with ERP systems such as Oracle and SAP.  
  • Deep understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL508A Standards and regulations.  
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
