Direct, work with, and instruct an assigned group of employees in the performance of their duties. Communicate any issues with all shifts. Responsible for the manufacturing of box making machinery and must be able to perform all of the duties of Technician III, Electrical as required. Technician work involves performing the installation of electrical, electronic and numerical controls on company product that includes computerized machines. Installation and test of logic panels, electrical control panels, servo motors, circuit boards, mini-computers, numerical controls and related electrical/electronic units or subassemblies. Must possess an understanding of mechanical functions including motor drives, bearings, couplings, rolls and gears. Apply principles and theories of advanced electronics, electrical circuitry and basic mechanical functions.

Position Description:

Subject matter expert in the field of test engineering, analysis of test data, and usage of both software and hardware tools used to obtain, analyze, and distill test data into understandable and actionable results. Responsible for developing test systems from the ground up, with design integrity, such that the data obtained and any analysis made from it contain inherent validity and substance purposeful to its objective.

 

Develops and applies testing procedures. Devises and maintains quality control and reliability standards. Provides technical support to other engineering departments. Ensures testing procedures meet industry standards. Ensures accurate record of measurement data. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems; refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring as required to all stakeholders within the business.  

 

Key Responsibilities/Complexities:

  • Perform a wide variety of duties in individually contributing, advising, and/or leading others in test systems development, evaluation of engineering designs, design and construction of test systems, and validation of 3rd party test data or results.
  • Collaborate with various other groups, teams, departments, suppliers, and customers on test system methods & capabilities, related hardware & software tools, and recommendations to achieve desired results.
  • Tests engineering prototypes, manufactured parts and assemblies, and/or products at customer sites.
  • Develop and document test plans and procedures. Train technicians and provide technical support as needed.
  • Furnish information and documentation about test systems deployed; manages check-out, calibration, and maintenance of managed test systems, equipment, and test lab.
  • Keep current on latest developments concerning test system architectures, methods, and tools.
  • Usage of industry and regulatory standards to develop test platform infrastructures.
  • Assist, lead, coach, or mentor less experienced team members

 

Competencies:

  • Advanced logical, analytical, and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to develop and apply test procedures for complex electro-mechanical products.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve very complex problems with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing methods, material application, mechanical/electrical design, and cost analysis.
  • Ability to lead a team that may consist of a cross-functional group of team members.
  • Ability to work in customer’s facility
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Design 3D and Solid Works preferred.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; be able to independently solve problems while interacting with various teams and teammates on daily processes and flow. 
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking various duties throughout the day, have a positive attitude with an ability to be versatile and flexible.

 

Supervisory/Responsibility:

Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems; refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring as required to all stakeholders within the business.

Test Team Leader

 

Work Environment:

The Test Engineer works in both office and manufacturing environments.  This role also travels regularly.   

 

Physical Demands:

The employee may be required to stand, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.  Normal mental and visual attention is necessary to perform various duties of the role.

 

Travel:

This role requires regular travel.  Travel is anticipated, but not limited to, approximately 25% of the time.

 

Safety:

All safety regulations must be observed.

 

Position Type:

This is a regular, full-time position with the understanding that a regular workweek will require extended days and hours as needed to meet business needs.

 

Required Education and Experience:

B.S. degree in engineering; master’s degree in engineering preferred. Typically has 4-6 years’ related experience or training in test engineering.

 

Other Duties:

Perform various other similar or associated duties as assigned or directed.
