Responsible for the general supervision, direction and coordination of a large, three shift assembly operation to meet production schedules, quality, and cost objectives. The personnel in the assembly area are engaged in assembly and erection, testing, packing and shipping of company produced machines and the processing of warranty orders. This requires a highly motivated individual with ability to display initiative to meet or exceed expectations in safety, cost, quality, delivery, and customer expectations. The role has full responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and personnel and will champion continuous improvement efforts throughout the department. The Assembly Manager has a large impact on the company business.
 

Manages employees or supervisors; responsible for the daily functions of a department or team. Responsible for strategy and policy implementation of both short-term and long-term results. Accountable for performance and result of team within own discipline or function. Decisions and problem-solving guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from senior manager or director. May lead or coordinate cross-team efforts to achieve project outcomes. Typically requires a 4 year college/university degree and a minimum 5 years of experience.

Ensures that output of assigned area(s) meets established schedules or quality goals. manages a team that is responsible for operating production machinery, assembling items, performing quality control, or packaging goods for shipment.

  • Ensures that department has sufficient levels of inventory to meet demand and is staffed appropriately.
  • Collaborates with R&D, product development/engineering, facilities management or maintenance, customer service, or other functions to ensure that organizational goals regarding safety, efficiency, quality, cost, and profitability are met.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions.
  • Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
