Intralox, L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has a position available for a Technical Writer in our Hanover, MD office.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and write supporting documentation for maintenance, operations and spare parts manuals.
  • Work closely with functional engineering groups to create acceptance test plans.
  • Able to understand and describe complicated systems with layers of logical rules.
  • Work closely with functional engineering groups to create and requisition spare parts lists.
  • Work with customers and vendors to coordinate training schedules.
  • Work with technical staff to understand components and systems to develop user friendly documentation.
  • Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding.
  • Proficient with multiple mediums of technology transfer such as manuals, videos, animations and web pages.
  • Revise and update documents as the result of engineering changes.
  • Create appropriate training materials for internal and external users.
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative or communications tasks as directed by the project manager.
  • Directing others and assisting in the production of hard copies with duties such as printing, binding, creating DVD’s, uploading to internet sites and shipping.
  • Standardize and streamline documentation processes.
  • May be assigned and responsible for independently researching and writing manuals for large conveyance systems.
  • Uses software such as MS Office Project, Word and Excel, AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor suite to accomplish job responsibilities.
  • Has knowledge of detailed commonly-used technology transfer concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Attends trainings or self-trains to continuously improve skill sets.
  • May assist in onsite training presentations.
  • Reports to a manager

Requirements:

  • B.S. or B.A. from an accredited university or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the technical writing of material handling or technical projects.
  • Proficient at working from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficient with MS Project, Word, Publisher and Excel.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills with engineering groups, customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • A self-managed individual who is a team player.
